“The Stuff They Don’t Tell You”
These are the kind of things photographers talk about one-on-one at the bar after a shoot that they either don’t or won’t share in public. I broach these topics, and I talk about them, in a very plain, straight-to-the-point way, and I think it opens a lot of people’s eyes. I was fortunate enough to do this talk in the UK last year, and photographers would come up afterward and say, “Oh my gosh, why didn’t anybody tell me these things before?” I think it’s because these are often difficult to discuss and not something you often see online, where everyone is focused on settings and gear, yet these things are such an important part of photography. If you’re not learning as an apprentice, you might never learn these things. I try to uncover those topics in an honest, straightforward way, telling people the often unspoken things that will actually move them forward in their photography without having to do it the hard way, without struggling along for years, or having to pay their dues before they can create great images
